City Hall tonight will close the Pattanakarn intersection flyover for five months to make permanent repairs the crumbling bridge.
The flyover, which passes over Srinakharin Road, was closed for a month last September. But the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said Thursday that a massive hole on in one of the two lanes connecting the two section of Pattakran now require a major rebuild. The closure takes effect at midnight.
Repairs are expected to continue through Nov. 25, creating new traffic chaos in an area only now recovering construction of the Yellow Line elevated electric railway system along Srinakharin Road.
Four detour routes have been set up and are clearly marked for motorists.
