Foreign diplomats and business leaders were treated to five-star meals and special seating on a train to Hua Hin to entice them to promote the city to their citizens.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Hotels Association and Hua Hin tourism businesses sponsored the junket for embassy representatives and members of foreign chambers of commerce. The special train left Bangkok’s Hua Lamphong station for Hua Hin District of Prachuap Khiri Khan Oct. 2.
The guests traveled on special carriages where chefs from five-star hotels of the Dusit Thani Group served famous dishes of provinces as well as beverages all the way.
When the passengers arrived in Hua Hin, they released young blue crabs into the sea at the beach in Khao Takiab. They were young crabs earlier caught in fishing nets and kept at a local blue crab bank.
TAT spokesman Nithee Seephrae said the special trip was aimed at promoting quality tours that could target tourists with high purchasing power after the Covid-19 crisis.
Such trips were are suitable for young travelers, meeting participants and expatriates, he said, adding it could boost tourism later this year.
