SRT to Relaunch 40 Long-Distance, Tourist Trains July 1

SRT Thailand State Railway Engine Train Locomotive Long-Distance

State Railway of Thailand long-distance and tourist trains will restart service on 40 routes following the end of the country’s coronavirus lockdown.

The SRT announced on its website Monday night that 10 long-distance northern routes, 14 northeastern routes and 10 southern routes will services shutdown during the past three months.

Special tourism trains also will resume. These include:

  • Route 909/910, Bangkok-Nam Tok-Bangkok
  • Route 911/912, Bangkok-Sea Pine Garden-Bangkok
  • Route 997/998, Bangkok-Ban Plu Ta Luang-Bangkok

As part of its schedule adjustment, the SRT will halt four special trains: 9071 (Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani), 9075 (Bangkok-Nong Khai), 9072 (Ubon Ratchathani-Bangkok) and 9076 (Nong Khai-Bangkok).

The train operator said all passengers are required to wear face masks at all times and maintain social distancing. All trains will operate at half-capacity and no food or drink will be allowed on board the tourist trains. Passengers also are encouraged to check-in with the government’s Thai Chana contact-tracing app.
