Hospital-bed occupancy for Covid-19 patients are falling with officials closely monitoring the number of seriously ill in Bangkok, according to the Department of Medical Services.
Director-General Dr. Somsak Akasilp said Thursday the number of the patients who recovered and were discharged from hospitals was growing to about 20,000 per day and the management of hospital beds highly improved, especially that for “yellow-coded”, or moderately ill, patients.
Officials were trying to limit the number of red-coded, or seriously ill, patients at 1,000 in intensive care units in Bangkok. Otherwise, it would be difficult to help the patients of this group, he said.
The number of new daily cases in Bangkok has dropped to about 4,000 a day. In other provinces, although their Covid-19 cases rose, local officials did not have serious problems for the treatment, Somsak said.
He also assured that home-isolation measures were standard and patients under the home-isolation program would be evaluated.
The evaluation would begin with patients under the home isolation program with Rajavithi, Lerdsin and Nopparatrajathanee hospitals, Somsak said.
