Thailand again reported no community-transmitted cases of the coronavirus on Tuesday, with only an already-quarantined returnee from Bahrain diagnosed with Covid-19.
The 45-year-old man was among 238 Thais who returned from Bahrain this past week. He had worked in a Thai restaurant there and tested negative for the coronavirus as recently as May 18. On May 19 he tested positive.
One other Bahrain returnee also has tested positive, the government said.
Of all of Thailand’s reported 3,034 cases, 2,888 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. Of the remaining 4 percent, 31 people were declared recovered over the past 24 hours while 90 remain hospitalized.
Overseas returnees comprise the largest group of reported Covid-19 victims this month at 110 cases and nearly all of the country’s total cases confirmed in the past two weeks have been those who came back to Thailand and immediately went into 14-day quarantine.
Thais visiting Indonesia have had the most reported cases – 65 – followed by 10 from Pakistan, five from the United Arab Emirates and three from Malaysia.
