Thailand to Buy Another 30 Million Pfizer Vaccine Doses for ’22

Thailand will order another 30 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine with delivery spread out over the first nine months of next year.

The Cabinet on Tuesday endorsed the order approved earlier by the Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration.

As a result, in 2021 and 2022, Thailand will total of 60 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine, government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said.

In other business, the Cabinet approved a project to lend 5 billion baht to newly self-employed people and small business operators. The Government Savings Bank will lend sums of no more than 300,000 baht per borrower.

The repayment period was set at five years and the interest rate at 3.99% per year.

The cabinet also allocated 1.5 billion baht as compensation for the non-performing loans that may result from the lending project.

The compensation was equivalent to 30% of the 5-billion-baht lending project, Thanakorn said.
