US Army Group Will Skip Quarantine as Thailand Posts 0 New Covid-19 Cases

Coronavirus Covid-19 Update Thailand Herald

Thailand posted zeroes across the coronavirus scoreboard Monday, reporting no new infections, deaths or recoveries.

The Center for Covid-19 Situation Administration said the country held steady at 3,195 infections, 58 deaths and 3,072 recoveries.

With Thailand’s health outlook pristine and the United States reporting a quarter-million new Covid-19 cases in the first five days of July, Thailand’s online world has been in an uproar over the visit of an American military delegation July 9-10. Rumors, of course, spread on Facebook saying the U.S. army officials got a waiver on any Thai health precautions.

Not so, said the CCSA Monday.

Spokesman Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin said the U.S. Army’s Chief of Staff, Gen. James McConville’s party was kept to fewer than 10 people. They will undergo Covid-19 tests before and upon arrival, be escorted by medical personnel, adhere to a schedule of places to visit, and refrain from going to public venues or using mass transit service.

Those are the same policies being allowed for any short-stay foreign businesspeople or governmental officials entering Thailand this month.
