Bangkok Tollways Go Free for July Holidays

Bangkok Thailand Expressways Highways Tollways Roads

Motorists escaping Bangkok for the upcoming weekend won’t have to pay tolls.

The Chalerm Mahanakorn Expressway (First Stage Expressway), Si Rat Expressway and Udon Ratthaya Expressway are waiving tolls on July 4-5 for the Asalaha Bucha-Khao Phansa holiday, as well as HM the King’s Birthday on July 25-28.

Tollway operators Bangkok Expressway and Metro Plc. and Nippon Express NEC Logistics (Thailand) said the free travel was in line with the Transport Ministry’s amended concession contract to waive charges on official holidays.

Transport Ministry officials stressed that motorists should not view the toll waiver as an invitation to travel more, since the emergency decree likely still will be in effect.
