Despite being located in a high-rise, the “windows” in Pin31 Gallery & Cocktail Bar don’t look out on the Bangkok skyline. Instead, guests get a window on the world.
Opening tonight, on Sukhumvit Soi 31, Pin31 actually has no windows. Instead, its three white walls are giant projection-mapping screens where scenes of Paris, snowy forests or European countrysides appear so real you’d be forgiven if you walked into one.
The bar’s creators say Pin31 is Bangkok’s first visual arts technology cocktail club where guests can taste original cocktails from head mixologist Christopher Menning while chilling to club house tunes.
The projection technology aims to immerse guests in a new “destination” every time they visit, whether it be in Paris – tonight – Mexico or Switzerland. The guests become part of the exhibit.
The fourth wall features more conventional art – photography, paintings and drawing. Pin31’s creative director said the gallery/bar will focus on artistic collaborations and wants to showcase local artists.
In line with its gallery roots, Pin31, will also host events such as theater performance art, live music and more.
