Thailand Lifts Ban on Travelers From Africa Tuesday

African airlines planes jets flights

Tourists from Africa and Thais returning from the region from where the omicron coronavirus variant began again can enter Thailand starting Tuesday.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Tanee Sangrat said travelers departing from African countries can now register for the Thailand Pass to enter the Kingdom under the “sandbox” program from Jan. 11.

The quarantine period under the alternative quarantine scheme will be reduced from 14 days to seven for fully vaccinated travelers and 10 days for unvaccinated visitors.

Travelers who had been previously approved to enter Thailand under AQ scheme but wish to switch to a different scheme must re-register for the Thailand Pass.
