Chiang Mai Bars, Entertainment Venues Close Amid Covid-19 Surge

Chiang Mai pubs, bars and other entertainment venues must close today after the number of Covid-19 cases increased in the northern province.

The Chiang Mai Communicable Disease Committee order also applies to karaoke shops, massage parlors, bowling alleys, billiards halls, and game and internet cafes.

Sport stadiums, fitness centers and gyms are allowed to open until 9 p.m. and dining-in at restaurants must stop at 11 p.m.

The order, which took effect from July 20, responded to an increase in coronavirus cases in various areas of Chiang Mai. The province reported 47 cases on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, lockdown rules including travel curb have taken effect in Samut Sakhon. The province on Tuesday reported 814 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours.

In Ayutthaya, checkpoints have been set up to restrict people’s movement. Ayutthaya is one of 13 provinces, designated as the dark-red zone, in which a curfew from 9pm-4pm is imposed in a bid to prevent Covid-19.
