A Chonburi old woman was killed her motorbike was struck by a car moving so quickly it was cut in two by the impact.
Suphattra Su-ui, 47, was pronounced dead at scene of Saturday’s wreck on Khaolam Road in Sansuk Subdistrict.
Sitting in what was left of his Honda sedan was Pongpon Noppateepakanwan, 20, and a passenger, both of whom somehow escaped injury even though the back seat and rear of their vehicle was down the street.
Pongpon caimed he was driving about 80 kilometers per hour toward Bangsaen Beach on the two-lane road when, too late to stop, he saw Suphattra making a U-turn. The force of the impact sliced the Honda in two and did considerably more damage to the victim.
He was charged with reckless driving resulting in death as police check security cameras to find out how fast he actually was driving.
