A Russian mother allegedly murdered her 19-month-old daughter in a drug-crazed rage before leaping from a third-floor balcony in Pattaya.

Identified by Russia’s Tass news agency as Anna Yefimova, the 33-year-old mother sustained only minor injuries in the apparent suicide attempt. She was arrested and placed on suicide watch in a locked ward at Banglamung Hospital.

Police arrived at the unidentified five-story apartment building off Sukhumvit Road in Naklua Moo 6 village around 3 p.m. to find the lifeless body of Yefimova’s toddler daughter in the bathroom under a brown towel and pieces of the the shattered toilet. Her head had been crushed on the the toilet or tub. The girl exhibited evidence of other physical abuse as well.

While being treated before her transport to the hospital, Yefimova claimed her husband had beaten her and the toddler, but management at the apartment block said the Russian woman lived alone with her daughter.

Their apartment had been ransacked, with blood spattered and trailed around the unit.

Banglamung police are continuing their investigation, checking security cameras and interviewing neighbors to determine if a Russian man had been at the scene or if it was all in the distressed woman’s head.
