More than 10 construction workers were injured when an elevated section of a highway under construction in Nakhon Ratchasima collapsed Saturday.
The 2:15 p.m. accident occurred as one Thai and 10 Cambodian and Burmese workers employed by Si Sang-Chok Chai Joint Venture were on scaffolding filling the bed of a ring road connected to Sura Narai Road in Muang District’s Khok Sung Subdistrict with concrete.
The entire section collapsed on the scaffolding. No one was killed, however, with workers sustaining only broken bones and cuts.
The 14.5-kilometer ring road project commissioned by the Highways Department was built to ease traffic in downtown Nakhon Ratchasima.
The entire project, costing 1.4 billion baht, began construction in January 2018 and was scheduled to be completed on Jan 4.
