More than 200 people were arrested for cramming into an illegally open Saraburi pub in Saraburi to drink, dance and use drugs.
Nong Khae police and district officials raided the unidentified pub on Suwannasorn Road in Nong Khae District after complaints about noise and drug use.
When the lights came up, 212 people were rounded up and officers swept up packets of methamphetamines and ketamine from the floor.
The unmasked crowd was packed in, dancing in the front and singing karaoke in the back. Drug tests showed 59 people had been using ketamine and 81 meth.
Eight of those in the crowd tested positive for Covid-19. The entire 212 people were quarantined for 14 days and more positive cases are expected.
The pub operator – who had been busted for license issues and drugs on the premises in January – obviously thought he’d paid police enough to open a bar in a “dark red” maximum and strict control zone – where bars are closed and alcohol sales prohibited.
The owner even hired famous model Paphawee “Oi Roi Joop“ Chaimongkhol, 24, for 25,000 to appear. Patrons had to pay 200 baht to get in.
All the quarantined party people were charged with violating the Emergency Decree and using drugs while the club will face a long list of charges including selling alcohol, operating during a curfew, the always missing licenses and Emergency Decree vioations.
