Krabi’s dog-catchers are out in force today after a viral video caught a pack of stray mongrels chasing tourists on Ao Nang Beach.
The clip showed about 10 stray dogs pursuing beachgoers on Muang Krabi’s most-famous tourist spot June 18. It was posted to the Pudum News page to warn visitors of possible dangers from stray dogs. In the video, tourists managed escape injury.
Stray dogs on the beach had earlier bitten many tourists, most of whom were children aged 7-12 years. Officials from Ao Nang Subdistrict and agencies concerned had caught them, but some dogs escaped to a nearby forest. Afterward, the remaining dogs returned to the beach, causing annoyance and posing danger to tourists again.
Officials of local livestock and district offices and staff from Ao Nang Subdistrict planned to round up all the stray dogs on the beach and will work out long-term solutions later.
