A 16-year-old boy driving a high-powered motorcycle died after striking a bicyclist in Tak Province.
Chalermchai Arunpornchai, a student at a well-known Mae Sot secondary school, was pronounced dead at the scene of the Friday night wreck on Mae Sot-Rim Moei Market road in Mae Sot. He was found 50 meters from a demolished Kawasaki Z800, the 800-cc full-size motorcycle he was driving illegally.
Also injured in the collision was a 30-year-old Burmese man who was riding a bicycle when, at a U-turn, his bike was clipped by the motorcycle. He was treated at Nakhon Mae Sot Hospital.
The boy was said to be driving back from a mall on the Nakhon Pathom-registered big bike and swerved to avoid hitting the bicyclist. The boy died of massive head and bodily wounds.
